this is an ancient, mystical. indian, healing spring. Oldest state park in the nation is Indian 'Springs State Park. the paddle aroung Lake McIntosh (105 acres) @ Indian Springs is A quiet joy! Join us this Sunday, bring your own boat @ pfd for a day of family fun! state park parking is $5.00 daily.
please launch at the boat ramp and sign in @ the boat ramp for the GCA - OACS event. there will be lots of paddlers, so please move your car after you unload at the ramp. this is 1 of my favorite placed to paddle... Hope to See You @ the lake!
I can bring a Torrent Sit-on-top kayak if someone wants to use it. It is very easy to paddle, not very fast, but extremely stable. It only seats one.
some of the state parks rent kayaks by the hour, Indian Springs only has fishing boats... GCA, the GA Canoe Association offers beginner kayak classes & Up the River has instructions for beginner kayaking, by John Miller.
I would love to go as I've never really gone kayaking/canoeing. Question, do you usually rent one for yourself or do you share yours w/someone else? What is the best/cheapest place to rent?
just got back from my 2ndl paddle 2010 @ Indian Springs state park. what a joy! great place 4 beginners... had 1 there today..
If you need a canoe, there are is one for sale on www.gapaddle.com for $225. This would be a whole lot cheaper than renting all Summer. I'm also trying to round up a few extra boats that I can loan out. I'll update the details later.
I paddled at Indian Springs State Park lake, last Sunday, Easter afternoon... It was my first paddle 4 2010, and my granddaughter (2 years old) - Olivia's 1st ever paddle. Until today, she called my boats - "Rocket Ships". Now she can say "kayak". Join me for a lovely lake paddle on 4-18 @ Indian Springs State Park. bring your own boat!
Thanks for the info Melissa ;0)!!
I'll check the link. I need to make sure they have kayaks for two!
Melissa, is that place far from where we are going? I have no way to rent something and then put it on my car.... too small....
Eva...I have never used this company, but it is probably where we will be renting Kayaks.

I just got back from this state park lake and camp grounds. As always, they are beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Geese were the only living things on the lake.. I will be kayaking with family on the 27th of March, and currently plan to visit this park.
Costco just got in their seasonal supply of "Future Beach" kayaks.. Good boat, great price! I have 2 of the "sit in" boats - very stable recreational kayaks!
Join us on April 18th as we paddle this quiet lake! Meet @ the boat ramp.
Can anyone pleaseeee tell me where I can rent a boat? I would love to go!
dausset trails is just a couple of miles away. If you love mountain bike riding, bring a bike and plan to stay! It also offers amazing nature trails. and if you stay, be sure to visit "Noah's Ark" zoo and animal rescue. This is the place that took in the Zebra that fell off the truck on I-75
My 2 year old granddaughter is visiting tonight. She saw my kayaks stacked in the garage, and begged me to take her for another boat ride on this beautiful lake... how do you explain that it is not yet warm enough - to a 2 year old? She remembered how much fun this was last summer! I had to set down a boat, put her in a pfd, and let her pretend to paddle, with a real paddle.
Join us for "real Memories"! 4-18-2010 @ Indian Springs State Park
be sure and stop by the historic "Indian Springs" spout. Many people come weekly to drink the "healing" waters, according to Indian lore... and bring you PFDs. State parks require floating for paddlers....
this park has some of the most beautiful cabins that I have found in the state parks.. it also has a beautiful beach area for family fun swims. There is a rope area around the beach, and last summer I had my 10 yr old grandson in a kayak for the 1st time. we paddled up close to the rope, and everyone at the beach wanted to know how to get in a boat... Dauset trail is w/i 5 miles for mt bikes and High Falls is w/i 10 miles for hikes, bikes and kayaking
this is my special place to take "new paddlers" and "bird watchers". Both fall "In Love" with the beauty and quiet serenity...
this is one of my "all time" favorite places to kayak. I went here many times last summer, and it is where I trained my grandchildren to kayak. sooo... peaceful and quiet! the water is like gliding on glass!
