Now that we've offered you Buns of Steel at Rocky and Lean Legs at Cowrock it's time for some interval training.

Elachee Nature Trails, Gainesville, GA.

Elachee offers more than twelve miles of hiking trails which will take us through pine forests, up hardwood ridges, down to streams and the wetlands. We'll savor the tranquil beauty of the woods with trails ranging from an easy .5 miles to a more challenging 4.4 round trip hike across the preserve to Chicopee Lake and back. Each journey offers it's unique view of nature with sightings of deer, birds, creeks and one 150' suspension bridge. We can venture out on a few easy trails to warm up and then graduate to moderately difficult trails that offers steep sections. We'll just keep going until we hear a resounding STOP!

For those of you not familiar with our hikes, we like to hike as a group and like to keep our numbers small so everyone can get to know each other. We provide a fun laid back hiking experience. That mountain isn't going anywhere. To us the journey is just as important as the destination.

I remember when I first hiked this area I said to Anissa "How hard could this be? It's in
Gainesville for Goodness Sakes". I was proved wrong. This is a workout. Please bring plenty of water and a snack or two.

After a workout your body needs to be replenished so we'll head out to lunch at a Mexican Restaurant.

Carpool Location:
9:00 AM, Publix, 4840 Golden Parkway, Buford, Ga. Look for a Dark Blue Chrysler Pacifica parked in the back of Publix and behind McDonald's.

Trailhead
: 2125 Elachee Drive, Gainesville, GA. Follow Elachee Drive 1 mile through
Chicopee Golf Course when the paved road stops follow it onto the gravel road directly to the trailhead parking lot.

Sorry for missing this one. My home internet did not work and I did not have my waiting list updating status. It seems you have lots of fun there. I will keep close watching the list next time ;)

Will meet you at the trailhead. My car is out of the shop and purring like a kitten, or maybe an older cat.

Thanks for the info on dogs! Sometimes the organized hike isnt dog friendly even if the park is. He's a 1 yr old lab, and loves hiking, so I hate to leave him behind. We'll be there!

Jeff, I knew that would get your attention. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Must be true!

No nothing wrong. Our hikes tend to fill up quickly. You've got to be Johnny On The Spot. Always put yourself on the wait list as a few people usually always change their minds. You'll get an email confirmation that you got bumped up.

The Park site states it's dog friendly on the weekends only and
the dogs must be leashed at all times.

    •  I had a great time walking among the frozen trees. Elachee is a great trail without having to drive far. I think we got in about 8 miles. I had a great time catching up with friends and getting a workout in too. Lunch was delicious. Thanks all.

it was a great trail. easy and sometimes a little moderate. great burrito's. a real nice place to eat.
    •  Great seeing some "old" friends and making some new ones. Elachee has great trails. Thank you Rick for taking the lead and shuffling us through the trails. The frozen trees were awesome. Lunch was great.
    •  Fun day with friends. Just as advertised: I felt the burn and ate the burrito! Doesn't get much better than that.
    •  Another fine A Squared production. As advertised the hike was harder than one would think so close to home. Perfect for a Sunday hike, great people, decent workout, great lunch, and home by 3:00 PM.
    •  Nice trails, different experience with the trees "raining" during the 2nd half of the hike. Lunch and the company were great!
    •  I had a wonderful time on my first hike with this group! It was great meeting Anita and Annisa, and the rest of our group! Thank you all!
