Now that we've offered you Buns of Steel at Rocky and Lean Legs at Cowrock it's time for some interval training.
Elachee Nature Trails, Gainesville, GA.
Elachee offers more than twelve miles of hiking trails which will take us through pine forests, up hardwood ridges, down to streams and the wetlands. We'll savor the tranquil beauty of the woods with trails ranging from an easy .5 miles to a more challenging 4.4 round trip hike across the preserve to Chicopee Lake and back. Each journey offers it's unique view of nature with sightings of deer, birds, creeks and one 150' suspension bridge. We can venture out on a few easy trails to warm up and then graduate to moderately difficult trails that offers steep sections. We'll just keep going until we hear a resounding STOP!
For those of you not familiar with our hikes, we like to hike as a group and like to keep our numbers small so everyone can get to know each other. We provide a fun laid back hiking experience. That mountain isn't going anywhere. To us the journey is just as important as the destination.
I remember when I first hiked this area I said to Anissa "How hard could this be? It's in
Gainesville for Goodness Sakes". I was proved wrong. This is a workout. Please bring plenty of water and a snack or two.
After a workout your body needs to be replenished so we'll head out to lunch at a Mexican Restaurant.
Carpool Location: 9:00 AM, Publix, 4840 Golden Parkway, Buford, Ga. Look for a Dark Blue Chrysler Pacifica parked in the back of Publix and behind McDonald's.

Chicopee Golf Course when the paved road stops follow it onto the gravel road directly to the trailhead parking lot.

Martin we assumed you probably did not get the notification in time that you got moved up to the Yes list because we knew you would never stand us up :) See you next time.
Sorry for missing this one. My home internet did not work and I did not have my waiting list updating status. It seems you have lots of fun there. I will keep close watching the list next time ;)
Elachee offered nice trails and hiking with A2 is always fun. Great catching up and seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
sorry - didn't get the notification until this morning that I was moved off the waitlist. Hope the event was fun!
Originally RSVP'd to carpool, but I will meet you at the trailhead.
Will meet you at the trailhead. My car is out of the shop and purring like a kitten, or maybe an older cat.
Kim - Probably between 6-8 miles. When everyone hollers they have had enough we will stop.
u said it is 12 miles of trails. how many miles do u plan on hiking?
Thanks for the info on dogs! Sometimes the organized hike isnt dog friendly even if the park is. He's a 1 yr old lab, and loves hiking, so I hate to leave him behind. We'll be there!
Jeff, I knew that would get your attention. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Must be true!
Hey, I resemble those remarks! (Just FYI, MH's +1 includes me but I had to RSVP to make a comment!)
Mary Helen, He'll come because there will be food!! Last time he came because of the Beer!!! LOL.
No nothing wrong. Our hikes tend to fill up quickly. You've got to be Johnny On The Spot. Always put yourself on the wait list as a few people usually always change their minds. You'll get an email confirmation that you got bumped up.
every time my e-mail says there is a opening in the group. i go look and it says its full. am i doing something wrong? i'm so confused.
The Park site states it's dog friendly on the weekends only and
the dogs must be leashed at all times.
Dog friendly?
